This textbook explains basic skiing techniques in the free country, proper use of ski touring equipment, planning of ski trips and basic rules of winter touring. Chapter on snow and avalanches attempt to explain the principles of snow formation and metamorphosis, avalanche formation and avalanche risk management. Final chapters are concerned with ski touring guidelines in the national parks and summary of the most important information about ski touring in Slovakia and abroad.
